Step-level deadlines can be set per routing step so each reviewer has a clear due date.

Steps
- Open the routing for which you are an actor.
- Find the step you want to set a deadline for.
- Set the step deadline for that person.
- Repeat for other steps as needed.
- Confirm the overall routing due date still reflects the final delivery date.

Important rules
- A step deadline cannot be after the routing deadline.
- If you need a step deadline later than the routing deadline, update the routing deadline first, then set step deadlines.
Example
- “Jodine by Jan 10”
- “Nancy by Jan 12”
- “Final delivery by Jan 15”
What happens if a step is overdue?
If someone misses their step deadline, the routing does not become a silent failure.
Downstream notifications still send
Downstream assignees still receive their notifications when their own step is coming up, even if earlier steps are overdue.
Why this matters
It keeps routings visible, reduces last-minute surprises, and adds healthy accountability through shared visibility.
